Allegiant Credit Card

The annual charge for the Allegiant World Mastercard®, provided by Bank of America®, is $59. However, the card provides relatively few continuing benefits to help offset that cost, which is notably noticeable compared to other travel credit cards.

If you routinely fly on one of Allegiant's restricted routes, frequently buy vacation packages, and travel with companions, the Allegiant World Mastercard® may benefit you. Even if you decide to fly with Allegiant, most passengers will find that a general travel credit card provides more opportunities to save money and greater flexibility.

Key Features

  • Card type: Airline.
  • Annual fee: $59.
  • Companion fare: When you make qualified purchases with the card, you will be eligible for a "buy one, get one free" fare offer.
  • APR: The continuing annual percentage rate (APR) ranges from 18.24% to 26.24%.

Sign-Up Bonus

After you spend $1,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of account activation, you will be eligible for an online offer of 15,000 Bonus Points, equivalent to $150 off a future Allegiant trip.

Ongoing Rewards

  • You will earn three points for every dollar spent on Allegiant-related purchases, such as flights, hotels, and vehicle rentals arranged via Allegiant.
  • Two points for every dollar spent on food and beverages.
  • One point is earned for every dollar spent on anything else.

Why You’re Better off Passing on the Allegiant World Mastercard

You won't get a lot of value out of the Allegiant World Mastercard® unless you take a lot of trips with Allegiant or routinely buy vacation packages so that you and your friends can go on trips together. And even if you fly with this airline rather often, you should still look into other travel credit cards since they have more to offer. This is why:

Limited Airline Footprint

Allegiant is a domestic low-cost carrier that flies on several routes. Allegiant does not travel to all locations inside the United States, and no international flights are available. Those who do not reside near an Allegiant hub or have travel plans that take them worldwide are not appropriate candidates for the Allegiant World Mastercard®.

Meager Incentives for a $59 Annual Fee

Even while the annual fee on the Allegiant World Mastercard® isn't as severe as it may be compared to the annual fees on other airline credit cards, the card provides relatively few perks for the amount of money it costs to retain. Since ongoing incentives are not very generous, it won't be easy to amass many points unless you make regular transactions via the Allegiant travel website.

You will only be eligible for some of the available benefits. The card does not provide free checked luggage, a potentially beneficial advantage sometimes seen on co-branded airline cards that charge annual fees. Additionally, being a low-budget carrier, Allegiant must provide its passengers with elite status and first-class seating. For instance, if you want to pick where you sit, you'll have to pay for that privilege, and the card won't even aid you.

Even for most of Allegiant's devoted customers, a general travel rewards card will provide more benefits. Consider, for instance, the Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card, which does not charge an annual fee. Because it awards 1.5 points for every dollar spent on any transaction, using it to make ordinary purchases might help you build rewards more quickly. To make matters even better, those benefits are adaptable. You are not restricted to a single airline since you may redeem for a broad range of other travel-related expenses instead of just one. You will also be eligible for a sign-up bonus that is far more generous: 25,000 online bonus points after making at least $1,000 in transactions during the first 90 days of account creation; these points may be redeemed for a statement credit of up to $250 that can be used toward the purchase of travel.

"Buy One, Get One Free" Flight Deals Are Difficult To Come By

The "buy one, get one free" flight perk is one of the few perks advertised by the Allegiant World Mastercard®. However, it isn't as simple or easy to acquire as it is on other airlines that provide a cost-saving companion travel benefit.

To take advantage of this cardholder benefit, you must purchase from Allegiant, which consists of both a flight and a vacation package. The trip must contain a minimum of seven days with a rental vehicle or four nights spent in a hotel on the same itinerary. Also, remember that there are restrictions on the places you may visit when traveling with Allegiant.

You will need to call us to take advantage of this perk and book a vacation package; unfortunately, it cannot be redeemed online. However, even if you won't be able to use points to book the buy-one-get-one itinerary, you will still receive points for making the reservation.
